Art Prints for the Mystery of Faith
This set of three original paintings, Christ has Died, Christ is Risen, and Christ Will Come Again, has been painted to assist the meditation on the Mystery of Faith with 6-12 year old children. Tracy is an artist and catechist in Washington, DC, who prepared to paint by considering Cavalletti’s materials, children’s art work on these themes, and the words of the prayer itself.

After 30 years, and feedback from the catechists who use these beloved texts, we have updated our scripture booklets to better suit the needs of the children of the atrium. In these new Scripture Booklets we’ve included:
- all new calligraphy and illustrations by Joan Bennett, the artist of the Scripture Booklets: Set One
- a cover that is more resistant to the effects of children’s hands
- updated edits based on changes by CGS, inclusive language, and ease of reading
- a Spanish translation on the last page, prepared by Jodi-beth McCain.
- a smaller size (5.5″ x 6.5″) to fit on the shelf and in the children’s hands more comfortably
- a simple drawing on each cover so the children can easily identify the text within
Scripture Booklets isolate texts particularly appropriate for children and presents them with one verse per page so that attention can be given to each idea in the text. The texts were chosen by Sofia Cavalletti. Simply illustrated with only one drawing in each booklet so the child’s reflection will be encouraged but not limited by the artwork.
The color of the covers follows the coding of Sofia’s own hardbound set.

The traditional icon of the True Vine usually features Jesus and twelve apostles. This icon, written for children, shows a young Jesus with twelve children of various ages and places and genders. They are turned to him, holding their “blank page”, ready to receive his word and life. His own scroll has the words, “Remain in my love.” A great gift for catechists and children. Written by Joan Bennett.

These four Messianic prophecies are presented in the atrium to children beginning at age three, giving them beautiful names and images for Jesus, the Messiah. At home or in the atrium, you can use these with an Advent wreath during Advent. By the fourth week a vivid central star appears, announcing the birth of Christ and the Christmas season.

A book and CD set of 38 songs with music, chords, lyrics and notes by Catherine Maresca regarding use of each song in the atrium. The CD is recorded by the Senior Children’s Choir of Christ Church Cathedral in Nashville, TN.
Music has a very important place in the prayer of children and life in the CGS atrium. To encourage the use of good music and lyrics, Treehaus Communications, musicians in Nashville, and catechist/formation leader Catherine Maresca created Sing With Joy and Songs of Love, two books with a CD of age- and theme-appropriate music for the atrium.
The books were created to provide legal access to the lyrics, music notation, notes and recordings of music for catechists, respecting the rights of the composers, writers, artists and publishers who created and brought this music to the public. This or any other music should not be reproduced without permission.
