From Light to More Light provides a family-friendly overview of the Sacred History lessons found in the CGS pedagogy. This beautiful picture book combines the inspiring language of wonder and hope with the familiarity of common household items.

Children beginning around age six and continuing up to grandparents reflect on their work in God’s Kingdom through the rich and accessible content. The presentation is a deep service to families in their home libraries. From Light to More Light is wonderful for families with both pre-school and elementary aged children.

History of From Light to More Light: God’s Plan for You

More than 50 years ago in the 3-6 year-old’s Rome Atrium, an overview of sacred history (the story of God’s deep love for all) was experimentally presented. Dr. Cavelletti and Gianna Gobbi decided the 3-6 child wasn’t yet able to intuitively grasp the presentation. They were removed. The History of God’s Kingdom remains only for elementary children. (See Rebekah Rojcewicz’s note below.)

Author’s Biography:

Susan Perna is a founding member of the board for the Catechesis of The Good Shepherd Association of Canada (CGSAC). She began her journey with the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd over 35 years ago.  There Dr. Cavalletti trained her.

Susan opened and directed the atrium at St Benedict Parish, Toronto for 20 years and has been instrumental in opening more atria across Canada. She delights in training adults. The Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption atrium in North Bay, ON is where Susan serves now.

Note from Rebekah Rojcewicz:

“This book was inspired by a presentation on Creation that had been an experimental material offered to 3-6 year-old children in the founding Rome atrium, for the Catechesis of The Good Shepherd, over fifty years ago. It was later removed from the Level I atrium canon of presentations and materials when Sofia Cavalletti and Gianna Gobbi realized that a reflection on Creation in the atrium is best saved for the child of 6-9, along with the moral exhortations of Jesus, which we call the ‘maxims,’ which are also found in this book. Still, the book tells a very true and beautiful story that can serve the ‘domestic church’, especially in a family with multiple aged children.”
